ADDER AND LOGICAL ELEMENTS ON NEURISTORS,

Abstract

An adder and a system of logic elements built with neuristors are examined. Experiments were made with artificial lines equipped with germanium tunnel diodes as prototypes of neuristor lines. The Ge tunnel diodes used in the experiment had a maximum current of 5 mamp. These neuristor lines shaped asymptotic pulses with a duration of 120 nsec and an amplitude of 0.4v; the refractive period of the line had an aperiodic character and a duration of 0.8 microseconds. The pulse delay in the line was 20 nsec per cell. Each refractive connection occupied 2 cells, and trigger connections occupied one cell. A one-column binary adder with 3 inputs was assembled with these elements. The carry was done by a 23-cell circuit and the adding by a 25-cell circuit. The maximum frequency of input-signal sequence was 1 MHz. (Author)
