EQUIPMENT FOR PLANISHING WELDED SEAMS,

Abstract

Weld planishing is done for three main purposes: to eliminate or at least to reduce the deformation caused by welding; to smooth the weld and thus to improve its shape and surface quality; and to improve the mechanical properties of the welded joint. Research resulted in the development of several methods of weld planishing and several types of planishing equipment which have found a steadily growing field of application in industry. (Author)
