CALCULATION OF TRUSS SYSTEMS OF LEAST WEIGHT,

Abstract

The author presents in detail two methods for calculating truss systems of least weight. The first method involves calculation according to limiting state and consists of two problems: (1) selection of cross section of rods which will ensure distribution of stresses as prescribed by the designer, and (2) finding among all suitable trusses the truss of least weight. The second method is to calculate according to impact load, a method which the author feels has not received sufficient study and practice. The influence of a time factor is explained.
