RADIO THEODOLITE PLACEMENT CRITERIA FOR GUIDE PATH MEASUREMENT.

Abstract

Some Category II ILS facilities appear to possess paths which exceed the allowable tolerances as defined in FAA order 8200.11A. The intent of the consulting study was to investigate ways for altering the subject paths to within tolerance conditions. Atlanta 09R was selected as the facility for consideration and field demonstration. During the course of investigation, theoretical evidence came to light which questioned the existing theodolite's placement, as defined in the subject order, to be used as the 'standard' placement. The project effort concluded in an exact definition of a standard facility, a redefinition of the theodolite's standard placement and the Atlanta 09R glide path's re-evaluation. (Author)
