A CODE FOR CALCULATING NEUTRON COMPOUND-NUCLEUS CROSS SECTIONS AND ANGULAR DISTRIBUTIONS: JANE,

Abstract

A FORTRAN code is described which calculates the (n,n'), (n,p), and (n, alpha) cross sections due to compound nuclear processes. The code also calculates the angular distributions of neutrons and secondary gamma rays produced by inelastic scattering. A unique feature of the code is that the optical-model transmission coefficients needed for neutrons, protons and alpha particles are generated internally. A complete user's description is given. Also, several sample applications of the code are included, and some of the features and limitations of the physics of the code are discussed. (Author)
