SYMPOSIUM ON PULSED-LIGHT AND RADIO RANGE FINDERS,

Abstract

The scheduled Fourth Symposium on Pulsed-Light and Radio Range Finders was held at Warsaw (Poland) during the period 16-26 October 1967. Thirty-two reports were presented at the symposium on three basic themes: Study of range finder instrument errors and the influence of ambient conditions; development of new range finders and improvement of existing ones; use of range finders in geodetic work. Hungarian geodesists have studied the effect of the setup height of radio range finder sets on measurement accuracy. Studies of the effects of changes in range finder setup height have also been made in Czechoslovakia. The scale error of a radio range finder with a cathode-ray tube has been investigated in Czechoslovakia. A new transistorized radio range finder, the 'Telemeter RG-10,' has been developed in Poland. Two reports from the Soviet Union dealt with new developments in pulsed-light range finders. Special control bases and polygons have been established in Bulgaria for investigating range finders.
