ENERGY PARTITION IN POINT SOURCE EXPLOSIONS AT THE OCEAN SURFACE AND OCEAN BOTTOM.

Abstract

Estimates are made of the partition of energy when a point source explosion is iniated either at the surface or bottom of the ocean. A distinction is made between radiation energy and blast energy. The partition of purely radiant energy, neglecting blast wave effects, is easily calculated. The partition of blast energy at the ocean bottom can be found without taking account of radiation but the corresponding partition at the ocean surface is changed completely when radiation effects are included.
