CHAIN-RING CODING METHOD,

Abstract

The article considers a coding method on the basis of a binary code, with which correcting properties are obtained without using a large number of supplementary digits. The method is based on the formation of a chain-ring group sequence possessing the following properties: (a) any symbol in an initial binary combination is repeated in d groups of the newly obtained chain-ring sequence. Here if two arbitrary binary combinations differ by at least one symbol, then the chain-ring combinations corresponding to them differ by at least d groups; (b) any two groups separated from one another by a definite number of groups are the nearest independent: i.e., have no common symbols. It is noted that when the chain-ring method is used, a large number of pulse signs must be introduced. (Author)
