MECHANISM OF METAL BOILING DURING VACUUM TREATMENT IN LADLE OF UNKILLED BALL BEARING STEEL,
Abstract
Samples of metal and slag were taken before vacuum formation and before deoxidation from a ladle where the metal was 150-160 centimeters deep. Boiling started in the upper levels of the metal, where practically all the cavities were filled with gas; and the degassing proceeded throughout the whole vo. of the metal. The cavitation effect began in the cavities of the lining and at the bottom of the ladle. (Author)
