AUTOMATING ENTRY OF INSCRIPTIONS AND OUT-OF-SCALE SYMBOLS ON PUBLISHER'S MAPS,

Abstract

The report gives a description of recent developments in photo composition, which the authors considered to be advisable for application in map production. At the present time, the two main ways of automating photo composition and map making are: (1) photo composition of inscriptions and symbols with subsequent automatic coordinate placement, and (2) photo composition with semi-automatic placement. This article presents a technological outline of these two methods for large-scale operations. (Author)
