LONG PERIOD GRAVITY AND ACOUSTIC MODES OF THE LOP NOR THERMONUCLEAR EVENT OF JUNE 17, 1967.

Abstract

Results obtained on the Hudson Laboratories long period microbarograph array for the Chinese thermonuclear explosion of June 17, 1967 are described. Of particular interest is the presence of a fast arrival, having a period of approximately 15 min and traveling with a speed of about 600 msec. This arrival is detected by beamforming techniques both for the short great circle path and for the long one. Also detected were 7- to 8-min periods traveling at 300 msec. (Author)
