NEWS AND VIEWS OF THIS KILN DRYING BUSINESS: DIP TREATMENT IN POLYETHYLENE GLYCOL NOT EFFECTIVE IN PREVENTING SURFACE CHECKING.

Abstract

The experiment was to determine if dip treating rough-sawn and presurfaced green flat-sawn northern red oak boards in polyethylene glycol would stabilize the fibers in the surface zones enough to effectively reduce surface checking in subsequent kiln drying. (Author)
