CULTIVATION OF ERYTHROBLASTOSIS VIRUS IN TISSUE CULTURES,
Abstract
Chick embryo fibroblast, in contrast to HeLa cells in skin-muscle human embryo tissue, are a sensitive system for the action of erythroblastosis virus (strain R). Erythroblastosis virus is capable of propagation in monolayer, fibroblast-like cultures of chick embryos, without a cytopathic effect. Generalized erythroblastosis can be induced in chicks inoculated with a cell suspension and cell free tissue culture material. (Author)
