INVESTIGATIONS OF SOME PROPERTIES OF METEOROLOGICAL PARAMETERS BELOW 60km.

Abstract

The report discusses the analysis of wind profiles in the upper atmosphere. High latitude wind profiles are investigated and classified into 45 categories, 9 depicting the lower dynamic system (Faust Cellular Theory) and 5 depicting the upper dynamic system. Mean wind and temperature profiles of Eastern and Western Canada are discussed as are the variability of temperature in the stratosphere and mesosphere. Times of spring transition meridional cross sections of the zonal wind at different longitudes and temperature deviations from multi annual means. The major section of the report is devoted to the investigation of the structure of the atmosphere over areas of pressure changes. He finds that the 20 km level represents a genuine separating layer but that it is not impenetrable and that proof of an effective influence from top to the bottom at the atmosphere that would be useful in weather forecasting would require a worldwide rocket network.
