A SURVEY OF RECENT LITERATURE ON CHEMILUMINESCENCE AND FLUORESCENCE IN SOLUTION,

Abstract

This report represents a literature survey of the structural factors affecting direct and sensitized visible chemiluminescence in solution. Compilations of the quantitative and qualitative data for the important classes of direct chemiluminescent reaction are given. These classes include: luminol, lophine, lucigenin - their analogs and derivatives. Other parameters affecting the efficiency and lifetimes of chemiluminescent reactions covered in this report include: fluorescer concentration, solvent, catalyst and oxidizer. The effect of structure on the quantum efficiency and spectral distribution of fluorescence is a subject which can be studied independently of the chemiluminescence phenomena. The report gives some quantitative and qualitative data concerning these structural effects. (Author)
