HUMAN INFORMATION HANDLING PROCESSES

Abstract

A review is given of research carried out on human performance in information processing and memory. Experimental results and theoretic progress are presented on the following topics: Taxonomy of information handling process; Selective information handling process (which includes selective responding to stimuli, human adaptive capacities in optimizing performance, and decision theoretic interpretations of information processing performance); Information storage and retrieval (which includes modeling of short-term memory) ; Refinement or resolution of certain critical issues; and Refinement of short- term-memory methods and measures.
