FORMAT II - SECOND VERSION OF FORTRAN MATRIX ABSTRACTION TECHNIQUE. VOLUME II, SUPPLEMENT I. DESCRIPTION OF DIGITAL COMPUTER PROGRAM.

Abstract

Programmer oriented documentation for a large-order eigensolution capability in FORMAT is presented. This capability provides for extraction of a specified number of eigenvalues and eigenvectors from a real matrix of order 2000 or less and was designed primarily for stability analysis of complex structures. The approach is based on the method of Eredelyi and may be classified as a variation of the power method. This capability is an optional addition to the matrix abstraction capability of FORMAT.
