COMPARATIVE ASSESSMENT OF THE EFFICACY OF NUTRIENT MEDIA FOR CULTIVATION OF LEPTOSPIRA,

Abstract

The liquid nutrient media of Ulengut, Terskiy, Fervoort-Wolfe, and Korthof were bound to be most effective for growth of leptospira. Addition of glycerin and vitamins of the B group had a stimulating effect on growth. Metabolic processes proceeded more intensively in leptospira of the icterohaemorrhagiae type, than in the pomona or grippotyphosa types. Addition of stimulators to Terskiy medium facilitated intensive consumption of aspargic, glutamic, arginine, serine, methionine, and cystine by the microorganisms. (Author)
