ONE APPROACH TO THE CLASSIFICATION OF COMPUTERSOLVED PROBLEMS,

Abstract

The classification of electronic computers and of computersolved problems is a major factor in the optimization of the facilities of computer centers and the determination of the design features of newly planned computers and accessories. The design and planning of computers and computer systems are increasingly dominated by the tendency to match the structure of computational devices to the algorithms employed. The author discusses classification as according to: (a) feasibility of solution of the problems (the operational principle); (b) the volume of information utilized in the solution of the problem; (c) the required speed of solution of the problems and the required accuracy of that solution.
