APPLICATION OF MOLTEN GLASS FOR HEATING STEEL BLANKS,

Abstract

Experiments were made to develop the composition of protective glass lubricants for hot extrusion of turbine blades and to evaluate various coating methods. Heating the turbine blade blanks in a bath of molten glass was found to be the technological method most likely to ensure reliable protection against scale formation on carbon and alloy steels in a wide temperature range (800-1300C).
