HIGH-SPEED MEASUREMENT AND LOGGING APPARATUS,

Abstract

A transistorized data logging system consisting of two portable units and the BPU-20 printer is described. The system is able to handle 100 signals in 4 groups whether they are low-level such as from thermocouples, thermo-resistors, or strain gages or high-level signals such as from potentiometric transducers. These signals may be cyclically sampled or a certain group may be repetitively and exclusively sampled. An analog-to-digital converter using digital voltmeter circuits is used for code conversion. Data is displayed on a digital indicator panel or is printed by a 20 position printer having a continuously revolving drum. A 100 3-digit decimal numbers plus sign may be printed in one second. The system quantization error is equal to 0.1% and amplifier error is 0.5%. All logic elements used in the system are dc coupled. Provisions are made for storing data on magnetic tape and for direct transmission to data processing complexes including digital computers.
