CONTINUATION OF THREE-DIMENSIONAL PHOTOELASTIC PROGRAM.

Abstract

The report presents the results of an investigation into the feasibility of integrating three dimensional photoelastic analysis with aluminum-filled plastic model testing for the evaluation of geometry changes. The results indicate that the integration of the two techniques will permit the evaluation of geometry changes quickly and relatively inexpensively. It is also shown that the technique used to obtain the modulus of the aluminum-filled plastic must be consistent with the strain measurement approach used on the model or serious errors will result when the prototype stresses are calculated.
