COPOLYMERIZATION OF ETHYLENE AND PROPYLENE WITH EXO- AND ENDO-FORMS OF DICYCLOPENTADIENE,

Abstract

Ethylene and propylene were copolymerized in the presence of exo and endo forms of dicyclopentadiene (I) at -60 degrees in n pentane with VOCl3 and iso-Bu2Al. The consumption of ethylene when I is present is decreased from the consumption in the formation of ethylene-propylene copolymer. Endo-I decreased the yield of polymer more than the exo form. Ir spectra indicate that the copolymer contains very short double chains. (Author)
