THE EFFECT OF HARDENING FROM THE ALPHA-ZONE AND SUBSEQUENT TEMPERING ON MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF THE ALLOY VT5-1,

Abstract

Heat treatment in the alpha-zone can substantially alter the mechanical properties of a titanium alloy, annealed in the standard manner, and thereby, in a number of cases, eliminate rejection based on mechanical properties. The limits of strength and yield, as well as impact toughness, are the most significantly altered of all mechanical properties studied for alloy during hardening and tempering. (Author)
