A STUDY OF FUNDAMENTAL CRYOBIOLOGY WITH APPLICATIONS TO CRYOGENIC SURGERY.

Abstract

Through laboratory and applied investigations data were collected to elucidate neurophysiological mechanisms of neurological disorders through the medium of biological freezing and to determine the various pathological effects of such freezing on biological tissue. Concurrently technical studies were undertaken to develop more efficient methods of controlled freezing in the latorabory and operating room. From such data new applications of freezing, particularly in neurologic diseases, may be achieved. Some 15 related projects were also undertaken. (Author)
