A SHOCK TUBE STUDY OF ATOMIC CARBON RADIATION.
Abstract
Observations of the emission of the atomic carbon line at 2478 A have been made in shock heated mixtures of CO, CH4 and CF4 in Ar and Ne. A lower bound for the Einstein transition probability was found. The mechanism of excitation is discussed and it appears that electrons may be the main collision partner. (Author)
