OCEANOGRAPHIC SURVEY OF THE TONGUE OF THE OCEAN (OPERATION TOTO). VOLUME I.

Abstract

The report contains a survey of the oceanography in the Tongue of the Ocean with respect to distribution of the following parameters: temperature, salinity, density, velocity of sound, and oxygen and phosphate content. Discussion of the topography, geology, water masses and their movements, light penetration, meteorology, sea state, and the distribution of ambient noise is included; interaction with and relation to the surrounding waters are discussed briefly.
