EXPERIMENTAL STUDIES OF SOCIAL INTERACTION--PERCEPTION VARIABLES AND COMMUNICATION EFFICIENCY.

Abstract

The report describes research on social interaction and communication. Verbal and nonverbal communication processes, a theory of open and closed group membership structures, factors affecting the development of trust and responsiveness between groups, and the development of sharing in groups are summarized in the body of this report. Special attention is paid to the phenomena of gaze direction, its use as an indicator of mood, role relationships, interpersonal preference and the like. The theory of open and closed group membership structures is discussed as it deals with factors relevant to the integration of new members into the social and productive systems of a group. (Author)
