THE DESIGN AND RADIATION CHARACTERISTICS OF A PROBE FOR MEASUREMENTS OF LOW-LEVEL GAMMA RADIATION AND BETA CONTAMINATION,

Abstract

The design and characteristics of a probe, incorporating Geiger-Mueller tubes, for the measurement of gamma radiation dose-rate and the indication of surface contamination by mixed fission products is described. Particular features are the wide range of dose-rates measured (0.1 - 1,000 mrad/h) and the uniformity of response over a photon energy range of 80 keV to 1.25 MeV. (Author)
