Abstract
This manual intended for students in schools of higher education, has been compiled for use in a course entitled 'Mathematical and Computing Instruments and Devices.' It can also be used by technical personnel concerned with the design of digital computers. The manual discusses the theory and design of digital computers, methods for calculating basic logic circuits and digital computers based on various physical principles. The manual is based on lectures delivered by the authors during a period of several years at the Moscow School of Higher Technical Education. Volume I contents: Electromechanical digital computers; Electronic digital calculating machines; and Basic computer logic elements and components.
