CONCERNING THE CHANGES IN WOOD OCCASIONED BY MOLD FUNGI,

Abstract

A scientific determination of what two classes of molds belong to pine wood. Both mold fungi and blue-stain fungi are capable of altering the substance of the cell wall, and consequently also the properties (not only strength, but also appearance) of wood. But since the behavior of blue-stain fungi and mold fungi in wood are conspicuously different one from the other, their effect upon the technical qualities of wood is not uniform. (Author)
