DETERMINATION OF MAGNETIC AND QUADRUPOLE INTERACTION PARAMETERS IN METALS AND ALLOYS.

Abstract

After a brief introduction to nuclear specific heats in general, a short description of the cryostat used is presented and experiments for studying thermal contact below 0.2K are mentioned. Results of heat capacity measurements between 0.02 and 0.4K on Pr, Nd, Sm, Tb, Dy, Ho, and Tm are given in graphical form and the hyperfine interaction parameters of these metals are tabulated. Heat capacity data on Sb and Bi are presented at very low temperatures. Finally, some future plans, including experiments on the pulsed NMR thermometer, are discussed. (Author)
