LOW TEMPERATURE THERMAL EXPANSION OF WURTZITE-PHASES OF IIB-VIB COMPOUNDS. PART III. THERMAL EXPANSION OF ZnS, SPHALERITE, FROM 4.2 TO 333K AND BIBLIOGRAPHY OF THERMAL EXPANSION OF IIB-VIB COMPOUNDS.

Abstract

The thermal expansion of the cubic phase of ZnS, sphalerite, was measured using x-ray diffraction techniques. It could not be positively ascertained whether retrograde behavior of the thermal expansion coefficient occurred in the cryogenic temperature range. A small minimum in the molar volume possibly occurs at 65C. Molar volume was determined at 4.2K. A bibliography of IIB-VIB thermal expansion is attached. (Author)
