ON THE FROZEN POLARIZATION OF ELECTROLUMINESCENT CELLS,

Abstract

It was found that the frozen polarization (FP) of ZnS(Cu) bears no relationship to the electroluminescence of the same material. This result is obtained directly by studying the effect of the crystal surface conditions on the temporal behavior of FP. Indirect evidences are also reported about the effect of illumination on FP. It is concluded that FP is, on the contrary, probably imputable to traps arising at the interrupted tethraedral bonds on the crystal surface. (Author)
