PARTICULAR FEATURES OF HEAT EXCHANGE ON THE SURFACE OF CERTAIN CARRYING BODIES AT HIGH SUPERSONIC SPEEDS,

Abstract

Results are given of an experimental investigation of heat exchange and gas flow on the surface of a half-cone and flat wings with a break of the leading edges at Mach 5. It is found that upon the interaction of the gas flows streamlining different sections of the surface of such bodies, there can appear local, relatively narrow zones of raised or lowered values of specific heat flow. These heat flows were measured using heat-indicating dye, and the flow was visualized using erodable dye applied to the surface in the form of individual points. The first aim of this work is to show the qualitative peculiarities of heat exchange and gas flow on such complex bodies. (Author)
