APPLICATION OF THE HYDRODYNAMIC ANALOGY TO THE FLOW IN A SUPERSONIC NOZZLE,

Abstract

The supersonic flow of a hypothetical viscous gas in an annular channel is considered in the hydrodynamic analogy approximation taking into account friction and heat transfer. A general equation is derived on the assumption of a constant friction coefficient and constant dimensionless temperature, and its solutions are given for certain special cases of channel geometry, in the form of functions, phi (M), which characterize deviation of the flow from ideality. The special cases considered: (1) annular channel of constant cross section; (2) annular channel of variable cross section with equal inclination of the generatrixes in all directions; (3) axisymmetric nozzle without central body; (4) flat nozzle of infinite width.
