THE DESIGN AND OPERATION OF A HIGH MACH NUMBER-REYNOLDS NUMBER FACILITY.

Abstract

A facility capable of operating at Mach number 10, and a Reynolds number of 2x10 to the 7th power/ft was designed, built and calibrated. The facility is capable of operating at stagnation pressures up to 30,000 p.s.i., and a stagnation temperature of 1800R. A running time of three seconds is available with the present design; however, an increase in the running time may be obtained by increasing the air storage system. A method for increasing the stagnation temperature capability of the facility to 3500R is also outlined within the main body of the report. (Author)
