THE ESTIMATION OF VARIABLE PARAMETERS IN DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS BY QUASILINEARIZATION,

Abstract

A computational procedure for the estimation of constant parameters in differential equations by quasilinearization has been developed in a previous paper. The purpose of this paper is to extend the procedure to the estimation of variable parameters in differential equations. To illustrate the technique, the frequency-factor constant and the activation energy in the Arrhenius expression of a chemical reaction taking place in a tubular reactor with axial mixing are obtained.
