A STOCHASTIC CONSTRAINED OPTIMAL REPLACEMENT MODEL FOR A SET OF SHIPS,

Abstract

This paper is published as a Research Contribution to provide as early as possible the results of CNA supporting analysis to the Naval, Marine, and analytical community. In this paper a stochastically constrained replacement model is formulated. This model determines a sequence of replacement dates such that the total 'current account' cost of all future costs and capital expenditures over an infinite time horizon for the n initial incumbent ships is minimized subject to the constraints that a certain number of ships are in a chosen military worth class at any point in time. The theoretical model was then solved for a specified set of assumptions. (Author)
