REMARKS ON THE MATCHING OF TOPSIDE AND BOTTOMSIDE ELECTRON DENSITY PROFILES OF THE IONOSPHERE.

Abstract

Limits for deviation from matching are assumed to be less critical when ionospheric stratification applies. However, a case of good matching was observed during a magnetic storm. The reported observations are not conclusive: good matching occurred with poor time coincidence; however, relatively poor matching occurred with good position and time coincidence. Layer tilting and horizontal fine structure have to be studied in more detail. (Author)
