PROCEEDINGS OF A CONFERENCE HELD 19 TO 22 JUNE 1968 AT VAIL LODGE - VAIL, COLORADO. SECOND SEMINAR ON THE CAUSE AND STRUCTURE OF TEMPERATE LATITUDE SPORADIC E. VOLUME I.
Abstract
The E region of the ionosphere (roughly 90 to 140 km above the earth's surface) is normally well-behaved and predictable. At times, narrow layers of ionization known as sporadic E or Es form in this region. These layers, which take different forms in the equatorial, temperate and auroral zones, are interesting both from the scientific and radio propagation standpoints. (Author)
