DYNAMIC TESTING OF SMALL TEXTILE STRUCTURES AND ASSEMBLIES

Abstract

A study was made of the high speed mechanical behavior of textile structures with a view to determining factors controlling translation of fiber yarn and fabric properties into impact performance of the end product. Mechanical behavior of stored and exposed materials was studied at impact speeds up to 40 ft/sec. A pneumatic-hydraulic test unit was developed in the study and served to accelerate the test procedures over earlier drop weight methods.
