STUDIES OF THE MAMMALIAN BRAIN FUNCTION IN VITRO.

Abstract

Viability of the frozen cat brain at -60C was studied by electrocorticograms, spontaneous single nerve cell discharges, light and electronmicroscopic examination. The brain which had been perfused with 4% dextran Hanks solution in situ was isolated and cryoprotective agent was added in the perfusate. Thereafter it was frozen slowly and stored at -60C for 28 days. (Author)
