COMBINED THERMAL/BLAST EFFECTS OF A NUCLEAR BURST.

Abstract

The strength properties of aluminum in response to the synergistic effects of thermal radiation and blast from a nuclear detonation were investigated in cooperation with the Naval Applied Science Laboratories (NASL). The purpose of the program was to obtain data to analyze the vulnerability of aircraft. A test plan was developed, test procedures established, and limited data obtained. (Author)
