PLANNING OF COMBAT ACTIONS AND CONTROL OF TROOPS WITH THE HELP OF PERT CHARTS (SELECTED SECTIONS),

Abstract

The report deals with the calculation of parameters for PERT (programmed evaluation and review technique) charts which reflect the combat activity of troops. It covers the formation of temporary evaluations of operations based on the parameter of time and use of probabilistic methods for obtaining these times in the event they are not available from manuals and charts which are based on combat or training experience. It also touches on the use of PERT planning and control methods to reduce the use of manpower for formulation of time elements and presents advice and recommendations for implementation of these methods in the armed forces. The conclusion uses the example 'Planning the March of a Tank Battalion' by the PERT method and gives a breakdown of construction of the initial PERT chart, an optimized PERT chart, and, finally, a scale PERT chart.
