THE EXPENDABLE DEW POINT HYGROMETER.

Abstract

The report presents an engineering description of, and procedures, for utilizing a new expendable, balloon-borne point hygrometer. The hygrometer is of the Freon-cooled, optically detected, automatically controlled condensation type, with mirror temperature read out by a thermistor sensor. The device utilizes low cost solid-state electronics and is compatible with conventional radiosonde telemetry systems. The hygrometer is capable of measurement to -60C and has been successfully flight tested. This document is a combined final report and instruction manual. (Author)
