RATE COEFFICIENTS RELEVANT TO THE H2 UV LASER.

Abstract

Rate coefficients for the electron impact excitations of two electronic states of the H2 molecule-2p pi'Pi sub u and 2p sigma 'Sigma sub u --have been obtained using calculated cross sections. The ionization rate coefficient and energy loss by electrons to the ground-state vibrational levels of the H2 molecule have been calculated using relevant measured cross sections. In addition the rate of energy loss by electrons into the excitation of 3 Sigma sub u and 3 Sigma sub g levels has been calculated. (Author)
