ON A METHOD OF SOLUTION OF A CLASS OF SINGULAR TWO-POINT BOUNDARY VALUE PROBLEMS.

Abstract

A certain type of singular two-point boundary value problem is described which is encountered in the solution of the differential equations of several known models for a plane and steady shock in a plasma. The principles of a method of solution of this type of problem are exposed and its range of applicability is investigated with the help of a mathematical model of known solution which possesses all the peculiar features of the physical models under consideration. From the results of this investigation it is shown that the method may be applicable to a specific model in the case of a relatively cold and dense plasma. (Author)
