SOLAR RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT AT SACRAMENTO PEAK OBSERVATORY.

Abstract

The fundamental research work included spectral studies of solar flares, prominences, and plages with the Universal Spectrograph, and analyses of the data from the 1965 and 1966 solar eclipse expeditions. The electronics group contributed to the overall instrumentation design and development programs; these involved automation systems for the collection and reduction of solar data, control systems for the spectrographic instruments, the solar flare patrol system, the video systems, and the instrumentation systems for the solar tower.
