THE METHOD OF STUDYING INTERNAL WAVES IN THE BLACK SEA (K Metodike Izucheniya Vnutrennikh Voln v Chernom More),

Abstract

The existing method used for the determination of internal wave characteristics, notably their height, by means of data on water temperature and salinity variations cannot be recommended for the deep portion of the Black Sea because the errors that are introduced may exceed several times the actual wave height. It has been established that for the study of internal waves in the Black Sea one should make use of data on the vertical distribution of alkalinity at diurnal and multidiurnal stations. (Author)
